the Brazilian government.
With the crisis in the international oil market, investments in shopping malls, retail
and hotel properties, hospitals and corporate offices were boosted.
Racional began to explore and integrate new technologies, while improving the performance of its construction
projects.
This decade was marked by stagnation in the Brazilian construction sector and this led Racional to spearhead new initiatives in the market such as the value engineering model, integrated cost and project management, and the groundbreaking Guaranteed Maximum Price contract. This period was followed by the Company's remarkable performance in the retail and shopping mall market segments, which combined with its strong performance in the industrial segment, helped boost its product portfolio.

Focused on leveraging its expertise in providing services, Racional extended its reach to include turnkey
contracts as of 2000. Therefore, with better guarantee of performance, the Company began offering Pre-construction
services as a key market differentiator.
To undertake pre-construction activities, there was a substantial increase in labor outsourcing and greater complexity in risk management.
In order to diversify its business strategy, Racional implemented structured business processes and created a Real Estate Portfolio to build and manage its own developments.
